Subject English (ENGL) 5370 Section 02 (CRN: 11361)

Prerequisites: senior standing and consent of instructor. Selected topics in language or literature. May be repeated when topic differs. Three credit hours.
From reluctant voice of his generation to Nobel Prize winner, Bob Dylan’s work spans over 5 decades, moving from folk songs, to electric rock, to Nashville country, to gospel, and eventually emerging into a second spring of creativity unrivaled by any artist alive today (maybe ever). This class will focus primarily on Dylan’s lyrics, but always with a sense of the changing moods of those lyrics created by Dylan’s recasting of the musical arrangements.
