Prerequisites: Physics 2322,3323. Microscopic, unified approach to thermodynamics, statistical mechanics with applications to ideal gases; includes blackbody radiation and conduction electronics, magnetic systems, the Debye model, chemical and phase equilibria. Three hours lecture, one hour optional discussion per week. Offered in spring on even years, or when in demand.
