Subject English (ENGL) 4370 Section 02 (CRN: 12776)

Prerequisites: senior standing, consent of instructor. Selected topics in language or literature. May be repeated when topic differs. Dual-listed in the UALR Graduate Catalog as ENGL 5370. Three credit hours.
From reluctant voice of his generation to Nobel Prize winner, Bob Dylan’s work spans over 5 decades, moving from folk songs, to electric rock, to Nashville country, to gospel, and eventually emerging into a second spring of creativity unrivaled by any artist alive today (maybe ever). This class will focus primarily on Dylan’s lyrics, but always with a sense of the changing moods of those lyrics created by Dylan’s recasting of the musical arrangements.
