This course is designed to provide standard information on legal and ethical issues in the sport industry and the risk managers are responsible for. This course will focus on the three major areas of the law that have a direct impact on the management of sport: tort liability and risk management; contract law; and constitutional law. Identifying management strategies and education for proactive rather than reactive responses will be a major emphasis. Additionally, time will be spent investigating moral issues in sport, and judgments about right and wrong behavior among athletes, coaches, spectators, and others. Three hour lecture per week.
