Prerequisite: CHEM 2450 or 3350 grade C or greater. A study of inorganic chemistry with emphasis on chemical bonding theories (both covalent and ionic molecules), periodic properties with isolation and synthesis associated with few main group elements, acid/base concepts, introduction to transition metals, coordination complexes (name, structures, isomers, chelate effects). Required for BA and BS majors. Lecture three hours per week. Three credit hours.
