Prerequisites: CHEM 1402 and MATH 1451, or consent of instructor. Properties of materials and materials science, including atomic structure and bonding, lattice structures and defects, grain structure, alloys, and phase diagrams. Construction engineering materials, including steel, aluminum, aggregates, Portland cement, concrete, masonry, asphalt, wood, and composites. Two hours lecture. Two hours lab. Three credit hours.
