Prerequistes: formal admission to the social work program and completion of SOWK 1301 with a grade of "C" or above. This course focuses on the strengths and challenges faced by different groups including but not limited to gay, lesbian, and bisexual individuals; people of color; people with disabilities; religious minorities; and the elderly. Students will learn about the characteristics of culturally competent social work practice with diverse populations and the knowledge, attitudes, and skills for working with different population groups. Three credit hours.
