OB/Reproductive Hlth Nursing2021 Second 7 Weeks

Subject Nursing (NURS) 2410 Section 9H2 (CRN: 63078)

Prerequisites: NURS 1410 or NURS 1415, NURS 1420; Prerequisite/Concurrent: CHEM 1400 or 1402 or 1405. A study of the current evidence base for patient centered care during the reproductive years, with emphasis on normal child- bearing processes. Exemplars illustrating expected processes and common problems that occur during childbearing will be used to facilitate students' application of decision making skills to prioritize care as a member of the multidisciplinary team. Students will provide patient/family discharge teaching and implement and original community teaching project to further develop skills in quality improvement and informatics. Laboratory experiences will take place in simulation, acute care and community settings. Four credit hours (2 credits theory; 2 credits lab).
Class meets face-to-face at designated meeting time/location and requires some online participation. Students will also complete 90 clinical hours (12 hours/week) at various sites and on campus. More information on specific site options will be announced. All clinicals are face-to-face whether it's Skills Lab, Simulation or facility-based.
