Subject Special Education (SPED) 7390 Section 991 (CRN: 64442)

This course is the initial course in the graduate program in special education. The course will serve dual purposes in graduate study. It will be an introductory course in special education for all candidates in the program. Additionally, it will serve as the required initial course for candidates in the initial/non-traditional program in special education. The course will be an intensive hybrid course that includes field components that address the seven competencies required of special education service providers in public schools. Candidates will learn specific competencies through intensive competency and content driven modules and apply the content in specific activities in a special education setting with mentor/university supervisor oversight.
