Honors Intercultural Comm2016 Fall

Subject Speech Communication (SPCH) 4317 Section 9H1 (CRN: 64443)

Prerequisites: SPCH 1300 with a grade of "C" or better, or declared major/minor in International Studies, or consent of the instructor; admission to UALR Honors College. An exploration of the relationship between communication and varied ethnic and national cultures across multiple contexts, including work, community, medical, and interpersonal. Topics such as culture shock, language, conflict, and cultural identity are explored. Class activities and case studies focused on developing competent and ethical application of major intercultural theories and concepts. This course replaces SPCH 4312 in the speech communication major for honors students. Three credit hours.
